Hettie Adger graciously denoted a portion of the land that now serves as a burial ground for St.Paul CME Church located in Belcher, Louisiana

The earliest grave
at Hettie Adger’s Memorial cemetery dates back 100 years
ago while the oldest person buried was born in 1841. Unfortunately
many of nature’s elements have caused a number of markers
to erode, sink into marshes or simply disappear in the brush.
The parishioners are in the process of planning a fundraiser to help repair the graveyard and if you would like to assist, please contact the church at 318-378-4736.
This
cemetery transcription below was made possible by the organizers,
parishioners, cemetery caretakers and volunteers of the 10th
Annual Memorial Day Sankofa Worship Service, May 29, 2005 at
St. Paul Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Belcher, LA.
This list is not complete, due to the difficulty in surveying
a number tombstones in hard to reach areas. If you know of someone
buried here and their names are missing, please contact the
church at the number above. The physical address is 200 Gray St., Belcher, LA 71004. You
can also send an email to: info@redriversankofa.org with
the deceased's full name, date of birth and date of death and
we will add it to the database and notify the church.
