Union Chapel Cemetery
To reach this cemetery go north from Plain Dealing on Hwy 3 about 5 miles. The cemetery/church will be on
the right side. It is behind the Union Church, next to the railroad tracks, east of La Hwy 3. The legal description is
Section 14, Township 23, Range 13. '
It was inventoried in August of 1995 by Jean Gildon Pickett, Virginia Gildon Barnette and Velma McCubbin
Gildon. The cemetery contains 49 headstones. The oldest headstone is Mae "Unknown" who died February 5, 1875.
The earliest birth recorded is also Mae "Unknown" who was born about 1800. , The cemetery is apparently a negro
one. The cemetery is not dedicated.
